Case study: Forward Ventures
Bold Venture
Matching a client spokesman with a Brookings Institution announcement enhanced the client’s reputation as a group of expert entrepreneurs and investors in the life sciences.
Through research with industry thought leaders and analysts, Cook & Schmid learned several months in advance that The Brookings Institution was scheduled to release a study on biotech clusters in the U.S. Cook & Schmid quickly moved with an offer to collaborate on the release of the study by using Dr. Ivor Royston, of Forward Ventures, as a San Diego source for the press conference on developing biotech clusters. Cook & Schmid also arranged for Royston to be present as a panelist and expert at the national media conference held in Washington D.C. that served as the official release of the study. At the press conference, he was portrayed as one of the founders of the biotech industry in San Diego and offered as an authority on how to develop a successful commercial biotech industry.
Dr. Royston was quoted in articles by the Wall St. Journal, BusinessWeek Online, the San Diego Daily Transcript and many major dailies throughout the U.S., while giving the Brookings Institution stronger regional news hooks and additional proof of principle.
