Cook & Schmid Hires Award-Winning Journalist David Kodama

SAN DIEGO, Calif.—Cook & Schmid, a San Diego-based public relations, advertising and marketing firm, has hired David Kodama as an account manager.

 Kodama is an award-winning journalist with 20 years experience creating content for business, technical, trade and consumer publications and member associations.

With Cook & Schmid, he oversees a number of prestigious accounts, including the San Bernardino County Office of Administration, Santa Fe Irrigation District and the City of San Diego Redevelopment Agency. He also participates in research and the creation and development of both print and online materials for Cook & Schmid clients.

Prior to joining the agency, Kodama served as the Editor of BWB Magazine, Pacific Coast Sportfishing magazine and content for the Service Support Professionals Association (SSPA) including the organization’s newsletter, white papers, best practices committees, case studies, conference sessions and live webcasts. In his first year with BWB Magazine, the publication received a WPA Maggie Award for Most Improved Magazine based on its content and graphic design improvements.

Kodama also functioned as Senior Editor with Managing Automation, eCommerce Business and Advisor Media, writing feature articles, columns and interviews. With Advisor Media, he directed the launch and content of seven publications and three conferences.

His freelance writing has appeared in Western Outdoors magazine and Cabelas Outdoor Journal. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at San Diego State University, and he attended the Stanford Professional Publishing Course.
