39th Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights to Illuminate the "Big Bay"

SAN DIEGO, Calif—The Port of San Diego announces the 39th Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights on December 12th and 19th from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The parade, themed “The Sounds of Christmas,” will kick off with fireworks, and sail from Shelter Island to Coronado, attracting the glances of a projected 80,000 spectators.

“We are pleased to bring this event to the San Diego community for the 39th year in a row,” said parade chairman, Larry Baumann. “It has become a tradition that provides a creative outlet for nearly 80 boaters and an entertaining leisure activity for San Diegans to look forward to during the holiday season.”

The parade will be visible from several points around the bay, including the north and south ends of the Embarcadero, the waterfront park behind Seaport Village, and Coronado. Participating boats will be judged based on creativity in categories such as holiday lighting, music, special effects and originality.

The parade takes approximately an hour to pass by your viewing site. The approximate arrival time of the parade at various locations are listed below:
