The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) hired Cook + Schmid to facilitate the construction of the East Mission Valley extension of the trolley, including a new stop at SDSU, as well as closing I8 for periods of time. Cook + Schmid implemented a multifaceted community relations plan that reached residents, businesses, employers, shoppers, media, and others throughout the construction process. Cook + Schmid distributed flyers and doorhangers advising residents of construction and information on assistance. As a result of Cook + Schmid’s outreach efforts, the project hit 20 million impressions from weekly traffic report coverage on local broadcast news. This project eased interactions with the public for the successful completion of this important transportation infrastructure extension.
