Cook + Schmid today announced the Healthcare Communicators of Southern California (HCCSC) recognized the agency’s work with two first place 2021 Gold Finest Awards for public health campaigns.
Cook + Schmid’s HCCSC Gold Awards included a campaign for the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency to reduce the stigma around breastfeeding in low income, minority neighborhoods, and for a Covid-19 outreach program that targeted Latinos.
“Receiving recognition from our industry for our work is, of course, quite an honor,” said Cook + Schmid CEO Jon Schmid. “But even more gratifying is the positive effect we were able to document on the health and well-being of the communities we worked with.”
The breastfeeding campaign, “It’s Only Natural. Mother’s Love. Mother’s Milk,” exceeded the Google benchmark for healthcare campaigns by 250 percent. The breastfeeding campaign was also selected by the American Public Health Association to be presented at its 2020 national conference.
The Covid-19 campaign, conducted for the Latino Health Coalition and the Chicano Federation, also received two Gold and five Silver awards from the American Advertising Association, in addition to the Gold Finest award by the HCCSC. The Covid-19 Latino outreach program used innovative technology, hosted on WhatsApp, to reach the target audience. Latinos shared the content at a rate of almost 33 percent – a key indicator of success.
